Cytoskeletal linkers: New MAPs for old destinations

A new isoform of the actin-neurofilament linker protein BPAG has been found that binds to and stabilizes axonal microtubules. This and other newly identified microtubule-associated proteins are likely to be just the tip of an iceberg of multifunctional proteins that stabilize and crosslink cytoskeletal filament networks.

Star Complements in Regular Graphs: Old and New Results

We survey results concerning star complements in finite regular graphs, and note the connection with designs and strongly regular graphs in certain cases. We include improved proofs along with new results on stars and windmills as star complements. AMS Classification: 05C50

POSITIVE MAPS, STATES, ENTANGLEMENT AND ALL THAT; some old and new problems.

We outline the new approach to a characterization as well as to classification of positive maps. Our approach is based on the facial structures of the set of states and the cone of positive maps. The obtained characterization of positive maps is applied to a discussion on quantum correlations and entanglement. Is RXJ1856.5-3754 an old neutron star?

An unusual X-ray source, RX J1856.5-3754, has recently been discovered with ROSAT: its spectrum resembles that of supersoft sources, but the very high X-ray to optical flux ratio excludes the presence of a companion star, pointing to an isolated compact object. It has been proposed that RX J1856.53754 is an old, isolated neutron star accreting from the interstellar medium. Here we present a rea...
